RAICON 2026: Preparing the Medical Community for Leadership, Learning, and Risk Protection
- By Team Policy Era
Proud to be part of this memorable gathering.
RAICON 2026 was held on 10 January as the annual gathering of doctors organised by the Raigad Medical Association (RMA). The event marked a significant milestone in the association’s calendar, bringing together medical professionals from across Raigad for networking, professional discussions, and the formal swearing-in of new leadership. It served as a collective forum where experience, responsibility, and the direction of medical practice came together.
The leadership of Dr. Ashutosh Kulkarni (President, RMA) and Dr. Prashant Gangal (Secretary) guided the event under the inspiring theme “Serve to Succeed, Well-being Together.” Rooted in service and shared responsibility, RAICON 2026 reflected the association’s commitment to strengthening both professional excellence and collective well-being.
Beyond its ceremonial importance, RAICON had evolved into a space for reflection on the changing realities of healthcare. As medical practice became more complex, the need for awareness around legal, financial, and institutional protection had become increasingly relevant for doctors at every stage of their careers.
Inspired by the timeless wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita:
देवान्भावयतानेन ते देवा भावयन्तु वः ।
परस्परं भावयन्तः श्रेयः परमवाप्स्यथ ॥
“Nourish the gods with this, that the gods may nourish you. Thus nourishing one another, you shall attain the supreme good.”
This philosophy of mutual support, service, and collective prosperity was reflected throughout RAICON 2026, which aimed to foster knowledge sharing and collaboration for the greater good of society.
A Confluence of Medical Leadership and Professional Dialogue
RAICON 2026 was designed to strengthen unity within the medical fraternity while encouraging meaningful engagement beyond routine clinical work. The gathering offered doctors an opportunity to step back from daily practice and participate in conversations that shaped the profession as a whole.
The event brought together
• Senior practitioners and emerging doctors on a single platform
• Leadership transitions through structured swearing-in ceremonies
• Discussions on professional ethics, responsibility, and accountability
• Opportunities to build stronger peer networks within the district
Such interactions played a vital role in fostering collective understanding and shared preparedness within the medical community.
Policy Era as the Authorised Insurance Partner
Policy Era participated in RAICON 2026 as the only authorised insurance partner, focusing on educating doctors about structured risk protection. In an environment where medical-legal awareness among patients was rising and regulatory scrutiny was increasing, insurance had clearly become a necessity rather than an option for medical professionals.
Rather than presenting insurance as a reactive tool, Policy Era emphasised proactive planning tailored to the realities of medical practice. Its presence at RAICON reflected a commitment to awareness, clarity, and long-term professional security for doctors and healthcare establishments.
At the event, Policy Era highlighted
• Professional Indemnity Insurance for individual doctors
• Hospital Indemnity Insurance for clinics and nursing homes
• The Umbrella Cover designed for comprehensive healthcare risk management
To enhance engagement and express appreciation to the medical fraternity, Policy Era also conducted a lucky draw event for all delegates, which was warmly received and added an interactive and celebratory element to the occasion.
Understanding Professional Indemnity Insurance
Professional Indemnity Insurance remained a foundational safeguard for doctors. Even with the highest standards of care, unfavourable outcomes or misunderstandings could lead to allegations of negligence. Legal proceedings, regardless of merit, were often financially and emotionally draining.
Professional Indemnity Insurance supported doctors by
• Covering legal defence costs and court expenses
• Managing compensation or settlement liabilities
• Protecting personal assets from claim-related exposure
• Preserving professional credibility and continuity of practice
During RAICON 2026, doctors gained insights into how appropriate indemnity limits and policy structures aligned with speciality-specific risks.
The Role of Hospital Indemnity Insurance
While individual doctors faced personal liability, hospitals and clinics encountered institutional risks. Hospital Indemnity Insurance addressed claims arising from staff actions, patient injuries within premises, and administrative oversights.
This form of protection proved critical for
• Clinics, nursing homes, and diagnostic centres
• Practices employing nursing, technical, and support staff
• Facilities handling high patient footfall and complex procedures
Hospital Indemnity Insurance helped ensure that operational budgets and growth plans were not disrupted by unforeseen legal or compensation claims.
The Umbrella Cover Approach to Comprehensive Protection
One of the key highlights at RAICON 2026 was Policy Era’s Umbrella Cover. This solution integrated multiple insurance protections into a single, cohesive framework, reducing fragmentation and administrative complexity.
The Umbrella Cover typically brought together
• Professional and hospital indemnity protection
• Public liability coverage within healthcare premises
• Fire and property insurance for infrastructure and equipment
• Cyber protection for digital patient records
• Personal accident cover for owners and staff
By consolidating coverage, the Umbrella Cover offered clarity, cost efficiency, and comprehensive protection under one structured solution.
Why Awareness Before the Event Mattered
RAICON 2026 was not only a gathering but also an opportunity for early awareness and informed decision-making. The pre-event focus on insurance education allowed doctors to arrive prepared with questions, clarity, and a deeper understanding of their own risk exposure.
Pre-event awareness helped doctors
• Recognise gaps in existing insurance arrangements
• Understand evolving medico-legal trends
• Evaluate coverage suitability based on practice type
• Make informed decisions rather than reactive ones
This approach aligned with the broader objective of empowering medical professionals through knowledge.
Strengthening the Medical Ecosystem Through Preparedness
As healthcare continued to evolve, doctors were required to balance clinical excellence with legal and financial preparedness. Events like RAICON provided a structured environment where these conversations could take place without disruption to daily practice.
With Policy Era’s participation as the authorised insurance partner, RAICON 2026 reinforced the message that risk protection was an integral part of professional responsibility. By combining leadership, learning, awareness, and engagement, the event supported a more resilient and confident medical community prepared to face the challenges of modern healthcare.
We warmly welcomed all delegates to Karjat and appreciated their active participation in making RAICON 2026 a truly memorable academic celebration.
